In late 2012, Doug was engaged by a private equity firm to provide merchandising and product development services for a newly acquired catalog/e-commerce brand.
In 90 days Doug evalauted performance of the business and its brand heritage. He worked with outgoing and newly hired team members to build a strategy to return a 25 year old brand to profitabliity, after years of significant losses. Most importantly, Doug was able to develop a sufficient number of new styles to ensure continuity of the business through the Summer and Fall '13 seasons. He also worked with internal and external sourcing partners to improve the landed cost of most core styles, leading to both reduced retail pricing as well as enhanced initial mark-ups.
